Happy Early Birthday To Me!!!
So I have been looking for something in our room to pull some of the cherry red and the darker red colors together. I was thinking pillows at first, but then I found this wonderful clock!
It was love at first site. Luckily it was on sale AND if I went back the next day then I would get an additional 10% off. You just can't beat that!
So this was/is my birthday present this year from Trav. I think it looks absolutely amazing!

Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday from us!

Thanks for the pictures and the card design Whit!

So the following are some updated pictures of our place. We put the finishing touches on our room with a new comforter set we found.
The day after Thanksgiving, Trav helped me pull the tree out (compliments of Uncle Shad) and the Christmas decorations. Then, Trav was off to work and I got to decorate. It was fun! I put in some Christmas cartoons and enjoyed the Christmas Spirit!
I love Christmas!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving

Don't you just love the cute pillows!

Who can find the Apple TV remote?
(A special guest appearance was made by the remote in this years nativity.
I think if Trav were a shepherd he might just look like that guy, very reverent but with the apple remote in hand...LOL)
My sheep, cows and donkey had to be on the lamp in the back. You can see the sheep but the cows and donkey are hidden by the stable, but they are present...don't worry.
Our Christmas tree this year! It turned out great! It almost looks like a real tree.
Moved one of the DVD holders to the hallway and put some decor in it.

EAT REAL SUGAR!

Hey-o-o-o-o-o-o,
So recently I was asked in my creative concepts class to put together a campaign for sugar. This was one really hard campaign. It seemed like we (my partner, Elise and I) were defeated at every turn. We finally came up with a strategy to target sugar to women who feel confined by their diet. Sugar became the woman's way to escape the restrictions that dieting might put on her and in some cases her family. So here is our print ad plus our TV commercial that would be shown on cooking websites. Now it should be noted that we used another commercial in class but I am unable to upload it at this time so perhaps I will show you later.
Some of you might recognize Quinci, the other Trav's wife as the model in these pictures. That is because she was kind enough to respond to my unintentionally creepy request for "a girl 18-25 to pose for me." Yeah I know, I know. Creepy. I've learned now that the better word to use is model. Also the photography was done by my very talented sister Whitney. It was fun because ulitmately it felt like a real photoshoot. I am gratful for both my sisters help in this! Anyway here are the ads!

Full Frontal Nerdity

My 2nd time partner Garrett and I had an assignment called Candy Shop. This is where you pick a product or business and do a full campaign for them of 3 ads and an electronic media of sorts. We went through many ideas before finally setting on this one that featured an idea that most people hide the nerd in them. I know this is a lot of reading but I am pretty proud of this campaign so pound through it if you care about me at all ;)

We started our campaign by doing something a little different. We did a mini play to share our point. Here is the script:

(Travis has headphones on and is kinda dancing)

Garrett- watch cha listening to?
Travis- Oh Cool jerk, it's the coolest!
Garrett- Ya man it rocks, hey my name is Garrett, but people call me G-thug
Travis- Hey G-thug, I am Travis, I don't have a nickname, but all the women I date call me dreamy.
Garrett- I am immensely popular with the ladies too
Travis- Yeah, I date lots and lots and lots of women, mostly dancers
Garrett- He dude, I gotta jet
Travis- I own a jet too!

Both turn backs to each other, look around sneaky like a start to read a comic book

garrett- awesome
Travis-fantastic

Travis- What you have witnessed here is not an alternate reality, nor is it an episode of the twilight zone it is an exaggerated version of reality. Our strategy says people are afraid to show who they really are but what they don't realize is that being a nerd is being cool. This is more true today then ever. So here is our campaign:

Happy Halloween

This is Trav's pumpkin creation this year...Bear-Wolf! Though sweat, tears and a sacrifice of a DI teddy bear that the store clerk named "huggy-bear" as we checked out, he has created another masterpiece!

This is us on Halloween night. We had quadruple the number of trick-o-treater's this year. It was quite fun. Trav and I watched scary movies all night and just relaxed.

I got to dress up at work and a co-worker let me borrow her Harley gear. So I think I could make a good Biker-Chick! Just need a motorcycle and get some leather and skull tank tops of my own.

All Hallows Eve photos

Hello Folks!

Travis here. Many of you probably know that Halloween is my favorite holiday. I think being something of a geek and always loving sci-fi stuff and monsters and all that Halloween has just appealed to me. Tia loves that I love Halloween because I get some sort of money is no issue attitude to making Halloween fun and that includes decorations! So since we live in Sandy and most can't (or won't, Trav) come to our house I decided to post some of my favorite decorations.
A cool one that reminds me of Tim Burton, plus a photo of Tia and I has poison ivy and riddler last year for Halloween.
One of my favorites because this guy is always happy and his buddy always looks scared. Scared to the point of pooping. The big dude glows in the dark so at night you can still see hims grinning.

Nothing is better then homemade. Here is the robot that ate Barbie, and for some reason seems to be a female robot. Not really sure about that, but what can you expect. I added the eyes and the Barbie body. It used to be holding the head but it disappeared...
Ah, Baby pumpkin, the most frightening of all my creations. This little head fits nicely over the top of the pumpkin to make your pumpkin the creepiest around. It is my proudest creation of Halloween. A little burnt face, lazy-eyed crazy chain smoking baby. Nothing says creepy like baby pumpkin. I just finished this years pumpkin, "bear-wolf" pictures will come soon.
This is a cool bucket head skeleton. I put the candy in him and he will stand by the door on all hallows eve.
This vampire is my favorite. When you squeeze him he has the most corny vampire laugh. That combined with his sorta blank stare at your shoes makes him the perfect vampire, much better then that Edward fellow...
He's springy and soft, you gotta love him.
El Sombero! He has been around since our first Halloween and I love this dude. He fits the season perfect and reminds me of that French Skeleton from the Beetlejuice cartoon!
This picture and the next two are the newest to join our decoration set. Monsters from Target. They are great and ad some variety to our world. We have ghosts and vampires and skeletons but we've never really had monsters!

Doesn't he look so fricken' happy. Like he is bathing in chocolate!

Well there you have it. Halloween may be one of the few times I actually post pictures and not ads so I hope you enjoy it. I do have some cool ads coming soon though for DC Comics and also an anti smoking ad, plus I will add vampire Trav from facebook and also Bear-wolf when i get pictures from Whit. Until then ...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM TIA AND TRAVIS

Keeps bugs outside, kills bugs inside... unless they are mutant bugs!

Hello everyone!

So I was informed by my wife that I forgot to post my Ortho ad assignment. This was a solo assignment from about a month ago. My professor asked us to pick a product and put together two ads for it. One ad could only have copy (no pictures, just words) the other ad could only have words and logo (no copy i.e. words). So having recently bought some Ortho bug spray this product came to mind.

I really ended up like this product because I was able to combine the strategy for the campaign with some fun science fiction. I am a big fan of the old sci-fi horror movies of the 50's with corny giant bugs and what not. You know the movies that end up on MST3K. So taking some images from two old movies I made ads that focused around giant bugs. That images are borrowed from the movies THEM! (about giant ants) and Earth vs. the Spider (about, you guessed it, a giant spider).

Now the photoshop isn't too great because I was still learning. I should go back and redo these (and probably will for my portfolio) but I don't have time right this second. The first two ads are my original ideas. I had done a lot of brainstorming and settled on these but as I was looking for pictures I came across some pictures that fit better and thus the two lower ads were created.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

SKI UTAH

Why Howdy Good neighbor!

I recently was asked to do a storyboard commercial for ski Utah. Here is the end result. There isn't much audio but the spot really came off well. Keep in mind that if the commercial is made it will feature real actors and not the cartoon.

As far as the design goes, my partner Adam drew most of the panels but I did draw one and I challenge you to guess which one. Once he had drawn them I took them and inked them, scanned them into the computer and colored them in photoshop. Of all the ideas I had for the ski utah campaign (over 20) this one was the first one I had and it really worked out well!

Free Tibet... and here's why!

So you are some lucky folk. Today you are getting a special sneak peek at my latest advertisements! These bad boys haven't even gotten shown in class yet. The assignment was titled, "you've got issues." The task was to find a partner, choose an issue and create three print ads in full color or black and white that would run in newspapers and magazines across the country. Well my partner, an awesome Lost fan named Garrett Jackson and I agreed to take on the http://www.freetibet.org/ campaign. Garrett was pretty savvy and well versed in the cause already but research was required on my end.

We did some thumbnails both serious and sarcastic/funny. We showed the class to help us decide what route we should take, only to find the class divided equally on both sides. Our teacher eventually helped us choose to take a more sarcastic look at the ads because he had never seen it done. We created some comps and presented them to him and they were critiqued.

Finally we have settled on a final version that both of us are quite happy with. The ads took a more interactive turn attempting to create something of a peek into the world of people who live in Tibet or more particularly run the way Tibet is today.

Honestly as you look at the ads, visit the website as well and attempt to better understand this culture and the trapped situation exists there. While the ads may be humorous they are also true. This is the way life is over there. It is sad to watch a culture lose it's history.

One last word, all the ads when placed next to each other form a giant banner. We are quite proud of that. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
